So, it's day two since I started posting and I already have news! As those of you fellow football girlfriends/wives out there know, things can change in an instant.
When I went to bed last night, everything was normal. I was awoken to a phone call by Coach this morning and he learned of an open position closer to me! I had to jump out of bed and get on the computer to send him things he needed for a cover letter. It's hard to not get excited about the possibility that Coach will be moving back in with me full time, but I know I can't get my hopes up because in this business--everything changes in the blink of an eye.
Looking for advice from my fellow girlfriends/wives...how do you keep from getting your hopes up??
The life of dating a Football coach! It's not as glamorous as one may think!

First Post
Well, where to begin? I have been a Football Coach's Girlfriend for just about the past six years. Not all of those years have been involved in football...only the past four. If growing up someone would have told me that I would be dating a football coach, or like football as much as I do, I would have laughed in their face! I hated football! Big guys jumping on each other chasing a ball?!?! But wow! How things change!
So here we are, January 2011. Those of you familiar with College football, know that January is "down time." This is the time of recruiting and getting ready for spring ball. For me, it's time for my boyfriend to head back down South to the Junior College he works at. Yes, that's right, he is heading there; not me. For the six years we have been together, five of them have been apart--due to college and football. I am an elementary teacher in the North, and he is coaching in the South. It's not all bad. My house is always clean and who doesn't mind a vacation down South?! Also, with coaching, residency changes--often!
For the past year and a half, Coach has been in the South. However, for the past few months, he has been talking about getting out of College ball, and moving back to an Indoor league (where his career started!) closer to me. (Will be 3 hours away still, but that's closer than a plane ride!) The clock is ticking. By next Thursday at this time, we will know what my future, for the next few years anyway, will hold!
So for now, I am here in the cold weather and he is getting ready to head to Dallas, Texas for the Football Convention. This is going to be a very long week!
